Abstract: Based on in-depth reflection on previous theories, Mark Poster put forward a new method to analyze the media, which is called "mode of information". As "mode of information", media includes two factors, philosophical logic and historical construction. From the post structuralism point of view,"mode of information" illustrates the philosophical logic of media at the back:media is a kind of language in substance, the structural power of which promotes the media to build the subject, the world, and even the whole human civilization in the process of communicative action. With different philosophical logic, media can be divided into different historical forms. The historical construction means diverse historical forms of media can logically build the diverse historical periods of human civilization development, which can compensate for the theoretical limitation of social development and media ecology at the same period. This theory accidentally combines the philosophical view of media critics and the historical view of media ecology together. It opens up a new dimension of contemporary media study, which is worth of academia learning and borrowing.
