Abstract:
To study the inner stimulants for the formation of the personality for low carbon and emission reduction in urban residents, the ecological-minded personality is defined from the perspective of ecological civilization. Based on 890 samples of urban residents, with statistical analysis method, this study further explores the influence mechanism that ecological personality has on low-carbon consumption behavior. Research found that ecological personality is a five-dimensional concept consisting of eco-intelligence, eco-agreeableness, eco-openness, eco-extraversion, and eco-consciousness. Ecological personality of urban residents shows positive features on the whole, only ecology-intelligence trends towards neutrality, while the tendency for low-carbon consumption is on upper level, but the strength of public engagement is far weaker than that of daily us. Each dimension of ecological personality is positively correlated with low-carbon consumption behavior, while ecology-agreeableness and eco-consciousness are main predictive indicators of low-carbon consumption behavior whereas eco-conscientious exerts more effect. The final part of the research provided policies of shaping the ecological personality of urban residents and adjusting their low-carbon consumption behaviors by raising their level of ecology-agreeableness and eco-consciousness.
