Abstract:
Based on the panel data of Chinese cities from 2004 to 2016, the instrumental variable was constructed to identify the impact of manufacturing agglomeration on haze pollution, and analyze the heterogeneity of its mechanism based on energy consumption. The results show that manufacturing agglomeration inhibits the increase of haze pollution through technological progress. The heterogeneity analysis shows that the mechanism of measuring technological progress by patent was more significant in low energy consumption areas, but not significant in high energy consumption areas. Spatial effect analysis shows that haze pollution has spatial spillover effect and time lag effect.
