Abstract:
The new literary work of Yifan Sui, “Theoretical and Practical Research on Innovation of University Internal Governance System”, discussed the principal’s ability. The work includes several interview articles when Sui led a team to visit the United States. The principal’s ability of Clark Kerr, as the educator, scholar and moral model, is worthy of attention. He made outstanding achievements during his tenure as the principal of University of California (UC), Berkeley. After being installed as president of UC, faced with many conflicts and troubles, he insisted on pushing the focus of management downward and decentralizing power to the campuses, which gave birth to governance system of UC that has continued to this day, and the university has made great progress as well. However, his lack of communication with other governance bodies has affected the process of university's reform and development. The governance of UC is typical in the system of American public universities, but as governance system and mode have shown diversity and multiplicity. we should conduct solid research and in-depth analysis to avoid generalization and overgeneralization, objectively look at shared governance and faculty governance, the principalship and individual style, and the reference and limitations of the governance mode of UC, and continuously promote research on theory and practice of innovations of internal governance system.
