Abstract:
The spirit of educators embodies Chinese unique educational heritage and cultural value. It not only inherits, sublimates, and innovates the “way of being a teacher” in China for thousands of years, but also clarifies the direction of “educating teachers” and “being a teacher” in the new era. It is a significant theoretical innovation and strategic enhancement portrayal of Chinese teacher team construction. By analyzing the evolution of teacher concepts from ancient to modern times and sorting out the logic of the generation of the educator spirit proposed by Xi Jinping, we can better understand the path of the generation of the educator spirit, and then gain a deeper understanding of the era value that the educator spirit endows teacher education with new connotations, society’s recognition of the value (status, role)of teachers, and international recognition of the Chinese teacher community with new perspectives. Based on the development trajectory and contemporary value of the spirit of educators, it can be found that the spirit of educators needs to be internalized in society and schools in order to take root; a “U-G-N-S-S” five-in-one teacher education model needs to be built under its leadership, to improve the training system for educators with Chinese characteristics; we need to devote ourselves to the internationalization path of “global civilization” and “global education” to make the spirit of educators known to the world, influence the world, and become an important label of teacher education system with Chinese characteristics.
