Abstract:
On the occasion of the 39th Teacher’s Day, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping proposed and elaborated on the spirit of educators. The excellent traditional Chinese culture, the centennial tradition of educating of the Party, the great spiritual lineage of the Party, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation are important perspectives for understanding the spirit of educators. From these four aspects, the spirit of educators is rooted in the land of China, connecting history, reality, and the future, and reflecting the basic laws of educational development. The spirit of educators is rich in connotations, including multiple dimensions such as political character, moral pursuit, ability and literacy, career development, educational realm, and world unity. These dimensions correspond to the rich connotations of ideals and beliefs, moral sentiments, educational wisdom, cultivation attitude, benevolence, and pursuit of righteousness covered by the spirit of educators, which reflects the higher requirements of the Party and the state for teachers in the new era. Therefore, the promotion of the spirit of educators should be based on telling stories of scholars well, supported by advocating respect for teachers and education, and focused on the original intention of education. Teachers should be guided to adhere to educating people for the Party and the country, and empower the Chinese path to modernization with educational modernization.
