Abstract:
The realization of China’s carbon neutrality goals underscores a substantial requirement for CCUS technology. Urgent actions are needed to accelerate the development of the CCUS industry, empowering high-quality progress in China's carbon-neutral era. The establishment of a comprehensive industrial system for CCUS technology will drive innovation across seven major industrial categories, twenty-five specific sectors, and sixty-four national economic industries. This initiative will also cultivate emerging sectors such as carbon verification, carbon finance, and carbon asset management. In response to the challenges faced by China’s CCUS industrialization, including weak technical foundations, market dominance by foreign manufacturers, and an imperfect policy system, this study presents strategic recommendations for the future. Firstly, it advocates for the establishment of a CCUS industrial basic data sharing platform. Secondly, there is a call to increase investments in key technology research and development within the industry. Thirdly, the proposal is made for the establishment of CCUS industry incubation bases. Additionally, the encouragement is given to explore innovative industrial business models and market mechanisms, accompanied by a focus on professional talent training in the CCUS field.
