Abstract: Taking EU Community economic policies as an example, this paper introduces the effects of the free trade and protectionism upon EU economy and the world trading. The author holds that the standard to choose a trading policy lies in whether it can promote the present economy. With the development of the globalized economy, free trade has become the irresistible main stream and the local protective policy will be undoubtedly abolished.
