Abstract: In the market of periodicals which is under the increasingly strong market-oriented operations, how is a university journal, which has been out of the market economy for too long time, to be developed? This question needs careful considerations. This article discusses about the three obstacles which obstruct the development of a university journal on the basis of its present real developing situation. This article also analyzes the possible conditions for the survival of academic periodicals, especially of a university journal, in the market. Finally the author points out the proper ways of development for the journal a university of science and technology, which is lack of the atmosphere of humanities.
