Abstract: English idioms include colloquialisms,proverbs and slang expressions,etc.They stemmed from documents,local stories,historical events,religions and customs.English idioms are characterized as symmetry,graceful in syllables and har-monious in rhythm;and further they have striking national and local features.Having analyzed the differences of idioms be-tween Chinese and English,the paper puts forward the purpose of comparative study on idioms between them and the possi-bility to realize the target of communicating the mutual languages.
