Abstract: Wei Yuan was a great thinke r at the turn of China's society from the ancient times to the modern times,durin g which the Qing government became weaker and faced the grim situation of domest ic trouble and foreign invasion.To meet the needs of saving the nation,Wei Yuan put forward some points on how to reform the internal corrupt practice of the go vernment and carry out opening-up externally.Having been absorbed and applied by the leaders of the Westernization Movement,his theories had great influence upo n the Westernization Movement.
