Abstract: Mercantilism experiences rapid development in late Qing Dynasty and greatly influences all aspects of the society, such as the establishment of an awareness of honoring mercantilism; the changes happened in industry and commerce policies of the Qing government and the improvement of social status for merchants. The formation of Tianjin merchants determines their features, which are a weak sociability, a strong sense of citizen existence and a lack of contemporary awareness. Therefore the Tianjin Chamber of Commerce focuses on reinforcing business connections, eradicating shortcomings and opening a business mind, etc.
