Abstract: The fantastic application of symbols is one of Flannery O'Connor's outstanding writing techniques which makes her works impressive, amazing and profound. Based on a detailed analysis of her fantastic application of symbols in four aspects, this paper is to prove that O'Connor is to shadow artistically the ending and the fate of the characters of the story by hinted signs, namely, the various symbols.
