Abstract: The history of jade in China is as long as the Chinese civilization itself.From Xia dynasty,jade has been an intimate part of the lives of all Chinese.This paper examines jade-related bronze ware scripts from Xia,Shang and Zhou dynasties.By analyzing their denotations,shapes and structures,this paper demonstrates the popularity of jade in social,political and ritual activities,showing that jade culture had been well founded and developed in Zhou dynasty.
