Abstract: Zhou Zuoren has published many articles on Sino-Janese relationship in 1920s-30s when the two sides had a very tense relationship. The criticisms are generally called "a row of date theory". The problem is that it seems that Zhou held bilateral stands in his criticism of Japan-his hatred of Japanese policies and his love of Japanese culture. This internal contradiction made his criticism inconsistent and imit.
