Abstract: China and Japan are both greatly influenced by Confucian thoughts, but there exist some differences in the essence of the two cultures. This paper, by a comparison of their conception on loyalty and filial piety, discovers that the differences between Chinese culture and Japanese culture result in the difference of their social category: China is an ethics-oriented society and Japan is a feudalism-oriented society.
