The Telephone's Passing-into The Capital of China and The Public Viewpoints on Telephones in Later-Qing Dynasty

摘要: 近代中国的电话事业,是于19、20世纪之交由开埠城市上海推广到首善之地北京。电话传播的曲折过程折射出该时期中西文化冲突与融合相互交织、新旧观念杂糅相间的时代特征。面对电话这个西方舶来品,晚清北京地区的社会大众呈现出迥然态度与复杂心理,反映出近代北京民众在社会心态领域里的新陈代谢。

Abstract: The telephone spread from Shanghai to Beijing-the capital of China at the end of the 19th century.The course of the passing-into and popularity of telephones reflected the conflict between the internal and the western culture which is one of the essential characteristics of modern China.Facing the telephone,the public viewpoints were varied remarkably and anyway,the popularizing of the telephone helped to push forward the renewing of the public thoughts and the modernization of their daily lives.
