Abstract: The academic element is the main element in the academic periodicals' appraisal system. It needs to confirm the connotation of the academic element of periodicals in order to establish the academic periodicals' appraisal system. The academic periodicals' aim is to publish academic articles. The academic connotation is the first concept of the academic periodicals' appraisal system. The academic connotation includes successivity of history, originality of thoughts, integrity of system, and science and technology related. The academic nature of articles is in a compatible relation with the academic connotation of academic periodicals.
