Abstract: Maintaining independence and keeping the initiative is one soul of Mao Zedong Thought. It is widely applied and embodied in the theory of martial strategy and tactics of Mao Zedong Thought. Mao Zedong also puts forward some valuable ideas: martial strategy must be centrally commanded and martial tactics must be dispersedly commanded depending on maintaining independence;China's revolution is based on bushfighting; the principle of universality centralizing and specific dispersing is established as the principle of command relation between higher-up and lower-down; a martial director must have the ability of .organizing and using his own power.
