Abstract: Yan Dialect is found to be a kind of social dialect variety which is spoken in four villages of Xia Country in Shanxi province. It is, culturally and linguistically, a special folklore that can be recognized by means of the special word -form. By presenting an outline of the words of Yan Dialect and an analysis of its Syntactic word building, this paper discusses the lexical characteristics of Yan Dialect.
