Abstract: Under the influence of Hu Shi's thoughts, The Renaissance formed a special set of principles to guide publications, which was based on the foregrounding of academic and cultural activities. This strategy showed that Chinese intellectuals represented by the colleagues of The Renaissance during the transitional period of that time dreamed to establish their role in modern society through rebuilding the dignity of knowledge，and construct a academic society in China. Although their ideal was plagued by many problems under historical contexts, it deserves objective analysis and assessment.
