Abstract:
On the June 3rd 2008,French President Nicolas Sarkozy enacted the Law No. 2008-518 of 3 June 2008 Relative to Space Operations, namely, the French Space Operations Act of 2008. Since then, France has the fundamental law for its regulation of space activities. This paper will introduce the basic contents of the act, and make the following comments on it: Firstly, the act constitutes the basis and core of the French space legislation; secondly, the act embodies the development trends and directions of national space legislations; thirdly, several definitions specified in the act have significant reference value and innovative; fourthly, the general requirements of the act provides the conditions for the relative follow-up legislation; finally, the enactment of the law embodied the fulfillment of the treaty obligations to France.
