Abstract:
There is a long history of parental instructions in China. Strictly speaking, parental instruction has two different levels of meaning: the modern one refers to parental instructions past to juniors in different manners while the ancient one refers to a kind of writings used by parents to instruct juniors. The stylistics of parental instructions varies from rhymed instructions to those without rhymes. The former includes poetry, cantos and odes; the latter includes instruction, posy and regulation etc. Researching the stylistics of parental instruction can help us better understand this cultural phenomenon and clarify the source of parental instruction.
