Abstract:
Discursive interaction is one of the crucial components of trade disputes. Studies on trade dispute discourse can help us profoundly get the nature and countermeasures of trade disputes. This paper briefly discusses the connotation, characteristics and research areas of trade dispute discourse, based on which, it then investigates, from macro and micro perspectives, the discursive interaction between China and America in the Sino-US trade dispute on tire imports. As the research result shows, China's discourse practice in the dispute is neither satisfactory in the arrangement of discourse subjects, access and topics, in perspective of macro discursive process, nor perfect in choosing topical potential, catering for audience demands, and manipulating presentational devices, in perspective of micro argumentative strategies. The paper in the end suggests that it is high time for China to recognize the significance of discourse in trade disputes and to seriously study the methods and principles of discursive interaction.
