Abstract: In view of the limits of the traditional criminal law causation in dealing with environmental pollution cases, the paper argues that epidemiologic causation theory should be introduced. Epidemiologic causation is an causation theory based on epidemiologic statistics and epidemiology. However, when applied in environmental pollution cases, discretion is required, while strictly considering restrictive conditions to avoid extension of applicability.
