Abstract:
Taking Val. Plumwood's description of the features of dualism as a reference, this paper evaluates the claims of Holly L. Wilson, who argues that Kant is not a dualist. After careful analysis, we think Kant at least maintains dualism between humans/nature, humans/animals, and humans/culture. As such, Kant's philosophy is antithetical to the aims of eco-feminism, which seeks to expose and dismantle such dualistic thinking. Trying to prove the claims of eco-feminism is no doubt a kind of abuse of philosophical canon.
