Abstract:
This paper used the Input-Output Model, analyzed the impact of EU carbon tariffs on China's export trade, based on implied carbon emissions. The results showed that: carbon tariffs would cause serious impact on China's export trade; huge export volume or high carbon intensity is the most important factor; a few sectors should pay the majority of carbon tariffs, and carbon tariffs will directly affect the survival of these export sectors. Therefore, China should accelerate the process of changing the mode of economic growth from export-led to consumption-led mode, improving energy efficiency, increasing the proportion of clean energy in primary energy consumption, as well as restricting the export of high emissions from key sectors to deal with possible "carbon tariffs".
